Between the sub-zero temperatures, post-holiday exhaustion, and snow days, you probably feel like you could use a vacation. But when an exotic getaway just isn’t in the cards, opt instead for a staycation. That’s right, it’s time to pretend you’re a tourist! Head to Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in Pocono Manor for a little relaxation and rejuvenation. (And no, we won’t judge you for leaving the kids at home!)
Step One: Book a Room
For a true staycation experience, spend the night at Kalahari. With its authentic African style, Kalahari will have you feeling like you’re on a safari, not surrounded by snow. While it may seem superfluous to stay at a hotel in your hometown, think again. When you stay at Kalahari, waterpark admission is included. At almost $100 per person for a day pass, this is an awesome deal. If your schedule is flexible, be on the lookout for “Beat the Clock” specials which are typically offered for weekday stays. Going with a group? Book one of Kalahari’s luxurious suites which can comfortably accommodate everyone in your party.
Step Two: Treat Yourself
As America’s largest, Kalahari’s indoor waterpark does not disappoint. Whether you’re flying down a waterslide or sipping cocktails at the Thirsty Turtle Swim Up Bar, you’re sure to enjoy your day spent in 84 degree weather. Don’t forget, a trip to Kalahari isn’t complete without a visit to the spa. From manicures to massages, Spa Kalahari & Salon has exactly what you need to unwind. In addition to your spa service, you are welcome to enjoy the Hydro Escape, complete with a spacious jacuzzi and herbal-infused steam room. And trust me, guys, you definitely want to get in on this spa day experience. Couples Massage, anyone?
Step Three: Eat Up
At Kalahari, a variety of dining options are available to you without ever having to leave the resort. Choose from classic Italian dishes at Sortino’s Italian Kitchen or casual American favorites at Ivory Coast Restaurant. For a truly unforgettable meal, check out Double Cut Charcoal Grill, my personal favorite. The filet mignon is incredible and the shareable sides are more than enough for two. I never leave Kalahari without a few scoops of ice cream from The Last Bite. (Try the Kalahari Big 5 – yum!) And don’t forget the most important meal of the day; breakfast at The Great Karoo Marketplace Buffet is a must. Between the omelette station, bagels and lox, and never-ending supply of bacon, what more could you need?
Do you live or work locally? Ask about the Zuri Jirani card to score discounts on everything from food to spa services! Remember, you don’t need to be a hotel guest to enjoy all of the incredible experiences Kalahari Resorts & Conventions has to offer.
