Meet Tricky!

The season may be over for Pocono Raceway, but Tricky and the rest of the team at Pocono are already looking forward to next summer. Did you know that race days aren’t just for the fans anymore? The race track is a fun place for families too. We had the chance to chat with J.J. La Rose, Manager of Marketing & Promotions at Pocono Raceway, who filled us in on all the family-friendly fun happening year-round at Pocono.

Q. We know you don’t need to be a race fan to enjoy the festivities at Pocono Raceway on race day, but is it a place to bring your family?

A. Pocono Raceway prides itself on having a family-friendly atmosphere while still providing a little something for everyone else. We have sections of our grandstand reserved specifically for families where alcohol is prohibited. Outside of turn 3, we host the GEICO Family Campground which gives families a camping experience away from the infield.

Q. Tricky’s Kit Kamp sounds awesome, can you tell us more?

A. The Kit Kamp is Tricky’s race weekend home and a true oasis for young children. Tricky’s Kit Kamp not only has one of the only grassy areas behind our grandstands but a playground with camping and forest animal themed elements. Here, kids can run around and blow off some steam on a beautiful summer day. Keep an eye out, you never know when Tricky himself may make an appearance!

Q. How do you become a member of Kids Club Powered by Pocono Medical Center and when is the best time to sign up?

A. We usually open up registration around the first of the year for that year’s Kids Club. Registration is easy and can be done on our website at PoconoRaceway.com/KidsClub. Kids Club members receive a personalized ID Card, a welcome pack, and VIP access to all sorts of cool experiences during the summer.

Q. Does membership only apply to race events or are non-race related events at Pocono Raceway included as well?

A. Generally a membership only applies to race weekend events but occasionally we throw in some non-race weekend events in conjunction with our partners. However, no promises can be made at this time.

Q. What’s the best way to find out about events happening at Pocono Raceway?

A. As with most things today, the best way to keep up with Pocono Raceway is through our website and social media. Whenever news breaks it is immediately posted to our website as well as our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Q. Where can Tricky be found when he’s not hanging out at the race track?

A. Tricky, unlike most foxes, likes to get out as much as possible all year long. He can be found at a variety of offsite promotional events including fairs, festivals, car shows, and sometimes even other local racetracks! These events can be found on our Upcoming Promotional Events page under the Connect tab on our website.

Q. Does Tricky make house calls? Or birthday party visits?

A. Typically, Tricky does not, but we are currently working on a package where kids would be able to have their birthday party here at Tricky’s Kit Kamp, much like they would at say their local bowling alley. Stay tuned for more details!

Q. When is the best time and/or place to buy race tickets?

A. Renewals are currently open for anyone who purchased a ticket for the 2016 season to purchase the same seat or camping spot again.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public in early October and can be purchased online at PoconoRaceway.com/Tickets, via phone by calling 1-800-RACEWAY, or at our Ticket Office on Long Pond Road in Long Pond, PA.
