As parents, we worry. We worry if our children are stimulated enough or not enough. Are they getting too much screen time? Are they hanging out with the wrong people at school? We worry if our children are making good decisions and if they even know what a good decision is. Do they possess the values and skills to become successful and compassionate adults? There are so many things!
Discovering Spruce Lake Retreat is similar to discovering your parachute in the middle of a free fall. While the ride is still scary, you can take comfort knowing that there is something there for support and reinforcement. Spruce Lake Retreat is that safety net. Unique programming, impressive opportunities for kids, beautiful facilities and countless amenities serve to remind guests the importance of reconnecting with each other, with nature, and with God. With a mission of “Pointing People Toward Christ,” God’s presence can be felt throughout the 850-acre campus. A single visit will leave you feeling energized, connected, renewed and impressed.
Summer Camps & Outdoor Education
Summer camp at Spruce Lake is exactly how every kid’s summer should look, and this year, they’re turning up the heat! With two distinct programs full of adventure and the outdoors, kids ranging in age from 5-18 can enjoy swimming, hiking, kayaking, paddle boating, zip lining, mini golf, basketball, tennis, volleyball and more! Clean facilities, a low ratio of children to counselors and a kind and dedicated staff ensure that your little ones will be in the greatest of care and will love every minute they spend at camp.
Day Camp begins June 12th and runs for 11 weeks through August 25th. Children ages 5-13 can expect to enjoy a full day’s worth of wholesome (and exhausting) fun! Playing games, exploring nature, crafting and taking off-site trips while making new friends will be on your child’s agenda each day. This program is designed to help kids develop good character and recognize their importance in the family, community and world – all from the context of a biblical worldview. Before care, after care and shuttle service is available. There are over 10 shuttle stops available from Lake Ariel to Stroudsburg, Tannersville, Swiftwater, Mt. Pocono and Pocono Lake.
Summer Camp, also called Wilderness Camp, is a sleepover camp for ages 7-18. While at camp, the campers are always on the move and the counselors are there to keep the kids engaged with activities, pool games, adventure courses, fishing, zip lining and more. In the evenings, campers can expect a low-key dinner and special message from the week’s pastor. The most exciting event each week? The Color Clash Competition! This year’s competition is expected to be bigger and better with upgraded facilities, color slip and slides, and color grenades. Let the games begin!
Outdoor Education is available to Christian-based schools, organizations and groups. At Spruce Lake, learning is an adventure, a discovery and a celebration. Your group can celebrate the miracles of God’s creation through experiential learning opportunities for participants of all ages.

It’s hard to imagine that Spruce Lake could get any better, yet they are growing every day and have plans to expand their facilities and programs. Just recently, Spruce Lake purchased their beloved Spruce Mountain after leasing the 499 acres from the Spruce Mountain Associates for 54 years. The $1,445,000 purchase was paid in full thanks to a God inspired “miracle donation” of $1 million and an additional $117,838 in donations given by the entire Spruce Lake community. This purchase is a milestone in the history of Spruce Lake and presents the opportunity to continue their legacy of stewardship. In the of Fall 2017 they will break ground on their new gym and meeting space for youth retreat, turning their Wilderness Camp into a year-round Youth Ministry Center. As for their programming, they have goals of enhancing their special needs programs and introducing more Family Retreats for families with disabilities.
